SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced

Mercer’s Moorman and ETSU’s Hook honored

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer forward Jada Moorman and ETSU defender Madi Hook have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 5-11.

Moorman started both games for Mercer last week as the Bears picked up a win and a tie. She played 52 minutes in the team’s 3-1 win at Jacksonville on Sept. 7, scoring the game-winning goal in the 61st minute to make the score 2-1. The sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, also scored a goal in the team’s 2-2 tie with UNC Asheville, picking up her score in the 56th minute. Moorman, the reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year, is currently tied for first in the conference for goals scored with five for the season.

Hook played all 90 minutes for ETSU as the Buccaneers defeated Winthrop, 1-0, on Monday. The junior was a part of ETSU’s defense that allowed just four shots, with none coming in the second half, during its match with the Eagles. In addition to her defensive effort, Hook assisted on the game-winning goal by teammate Emma Arnold in the 73rd minute. The Fareham, England, native has played all 540 minutes for the Bucs in their first six matches of the season.
