SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has named Caroline Taylor General Manager, SoCon Sports Properties, effective today.
Taylor has deep ties to Asheville, North Carolina, serving for 29 years as the Senior Vice President of sales at iHeartMedia before advancing to Market President.
“I am honored to be working with The Southern Conference and excited to be able to utilize the skillsets and relationships I’ve developed over my years in broadcast media.” Taylor said. “This conference is deeply rooted in the south and I look forward to helping bring in business support that The Southern Conference can use to elevate the fan experience.
During her time at iHeartMedia, Taylor won several awards. These included the Western North Carolina Women’s Business award and the Asheville Chamber of Commerce President’s award, both of which she received in 2008. In 2010 she was the recipient of the Athena Award given to an exemplary leader who has excelled in her career while helping her community as well as assisting other women to fulfill their potential.
In addition to her responsibilities with iHeartMedia, Taylor has worked with ConAgra, MichaelAngelo's Gourmet Foods and Ingles Supermarkets in both a consulting and radio buying position. She also owns a boutique marketing firm, Southern Marketing Group which has been representing brands for over 20 years.
Taylor previously served as a board member for Western Carolina Rescue Ministries and on the Board of Directors for the Manna Food Bank. Additionally, she was a youth basketball coach at West Asheville Baptist Church.
A native of Valdese, North Carolina, Taylor lives in Fletcher, North Carolina, with her husband, Bill Taylor, and their black lab, Alston. They have two children and four grandchildren. They live at Taylor Ranch, a working longhorn cattle ranch and event venue.
