SoCon announces women’s basketball league schedule

Conference play opens Thursday, Jan. 11

SPARTANBURG, S.C.– The Southern Conference announced its 2023-24 women’s basketball league schedule Thursday afternoon. The SoCon’s eight women’s basketball teams will all play double-round-robin, 14-game intraleague schedules, totaling 56 league contests. Conference play begins on Thursday, Jan. 11, with all eight teams in action. 

In total, 22 conference games take place in January and 30 contests in February. All conference matchups are set for Thursday and Saturday. The regular season concludes with four conference showdowns on Saturday, March 2. 

Furman’s Pierre Curtis will begin his first season as head coach for the Paladins, serving as an assistant coach from 2011-2019 before being promoted to associate head coach before the 2019-2020 campaign.

The Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championship will be held March 7-10 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina. 

Wofford won the regular-season title in 2022-23, the first in school history. Chattanooga won the SoCon Tournament crown with a 63-53 win over the Terriers. 

Full broadcast schedules will be announced later, but all eight schools’ home games will air on ESPN+ if not selected for national or regional broadcast. 

The 41st season of Southern Conference women’s basketball opens Monday, Nov.6.
