SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Five Southern Conference baseball players were selected in the MLB Draft on Tuesday, the final day of the draft.
Rounds 11-20 were conducted Tuesday, with Samford right-handed pitcher Carson Hobbs first off the board for the SoCon when he was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th round with the 340th overall pick. Bulldog teammate Jacob Cravey, the 2023 SoCon Pitcher of the Year, was the first SoCon player selected in the draft
when he was taken Monday by the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth round with the 181st overall pick.
Following Hobbs was SoCon Player of the Year Ryan Galanie of Wofford. The third baseman was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 13th round with the 389th overall pick.
ETSU left-handed pitcher Austin Emener was next off the board for the league, as he was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 16th round with the 472nd overall pick.
Mercer right-hander Josh Harlow followed in the 19th round, when the Cleveland Guardians selected him with the 578th overall pick.
Western Carolina shortstop Pascanel Ferreras, a two-time SoCon Preseason Player of the Year, was taken by the defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the 20th round with the 614th and final pick of the draft.
