SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer senior Teodora Ristic has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from March 28 to April 3, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Ristic went a combined 4-0 on the week at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
 
A Nis, Serbia, native, Ristic paired with Mary Weston Courville for a 6-2 win over Sierra Sandy and Sara Rakim to help the Bears sweep the doubles point at Florida A&M on Wednesday. Ristic then rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Rebekkah Gaines in singles play as Mercer took a 5-2 win over the Rattlers.
 
In Friday’s 4-3 setback to Samford, Ristic and Courville clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Samantha Nanere and Lindsay Song. In singles play, Ristic picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alexis Lopez at the top flight.
 
The weekly award is the first of Ristic’s career.
 
Mercer (9-7, 2-1 SoCon) has a busy week ahead, as it hosts Wofford (10-9, 1-4) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. before visiting ETSU (13-6, 3-0) on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Bears then close nonconference play with a home match against Alabama State on Sunday at 10 a.m.
