HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Furman continues to hold the lead at the 2023 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship and the Paladins’ Anna Morgan still sits atop the individual leaderboard after the second day of competition at Moss Creek Golf Club’s par-72, 6,036-yard South course.
 
The Paladins shot 5-over-par 293 during round two, which is four shots better than their total from round one, to increase their overall lead to 15 strokes. Mercer moved into second place after shooting a 10-over-par 298 in the second round to improve its overall score to 605. Western Carolina fell back one spot to third after shooting 17-over-par 305 on day two. The Catamounts have an overall score of 606.
 
Morgan shot a 4-under 68 in round two. Morgan’s 68 was the best round of the day in the field as she now holds a five-stroke overall lead over Western Carolina’s Madison Isaacson. Mercer’s Kate Song shot a 3-under-par 69, the second-best round of the day, to jump into third place on the individual leaderboard with an overall score of 1-over 145. Furman’s Chloe Johnson and UNCG’s Ava Romfo are in fourth and fifth place, respectively, to round out the top five. Johnson is 2-over 146 for the tournament, while Romfo has an overall score of 7-over 151.
 
ETSU sits in fourth place after two rounds with a score of 614, while Wofford remains in fifth place for the second straight day with an overall score of 624. Samford, UNCG, Chattanooga and The Citadel are in sixth through ninth place, respectively, after two rounds of play.
 
Final round of the championship will begin with threesomes at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Live stats can be found here.
