SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Carol Pyon has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from April 5-11. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Pyon won the Brickyard Collegiate, which wrapped Tuesday. The native of Macon, Georgia, posted rounds of 73-75-72 for a tournament score of 4-over-par 220. The graduate student’s win was the second individual title of her career. Pyon had the best score in the field on par-4 holes, shooting 1-over-par, which led the field by three shots.
 
Mercer won the eight-team, 47-golfer Brickyard Collegiate. The Bears shot 299 in the first round, 299 in the second round and 287 in the final round for a tournament score of 885, giving the team a 19-stroke victory.
 
The Bears return to action on April 16-18 at the SoCon Championship in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
