SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Sara Snyder has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from Feb. 28 to March 6, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Snyder won her singles and doubles matches as the Paladins topped Cal State Fullerton on the road Sunday, 6-1.
In doubles play, Snyder and Jess Dawson, the 51
st-ranked doubles squad in the ITA rankings, cruised to a 6-2 win over Natalie Duffy and Camila Garcia. In singles action, Snyder, a sophomore from San Juan, Puerto Rico, dropped just three games, winning 6-2, 6-1 over Milena Gevorgyan at No. 3.
This is Snyder’s second weekly SoCon honor of the season and of her career.
Furman (5-9, 2-0 SoCon) remains in California to take on San Diego State at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
