SUNSET, S.C. -- Senior Anna Morgan (+4) carded a 2-over 74 to continue to lead the Furman women’s golf team following Saturday’s second round of the Clemson Invitational at the par 72, 6,386 yard The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan teed off on No. 14 in the day’s shotgun start and recorded a team-high three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5, to finish the round tied for 38th.
Freshman Chloe Johnson (+11) is tied for 61st after recording a 77 with a birdie on No. 13 on Saturday, and junior Caroline Crumrine (+15) sits in 72nd place after tallying a 76 with a birdie on No. 10 in round two. Freshman Faith Johnson (+18) shot a 78 with a birdie on No. 17 to tie for 76th, and freshman Liza Lapeyre is in 81st place after scoring an 86 on Saturday.
Clemson’s Anabelle Pancake (-9) holds a four-stroke individual lead after posting rounds of 69-66=135 over the tournament’s first 36 holes.
No. 28 Clemson (-7) leads the tournament by three strokes over third-ranked LSU (-4), while No. 17 Ole Miss (-3) is in third place. Furman (+45) is in 16th place in the loaded field, which includes nine teams ranked among the top 50, including four top-25 teams.
The 54-hole tournament concludes with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday. Furman will tee off on No. 14 through No. 17 and will play in a group with Florida Atlantic, Columbia, and Oklahoma.
