SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU graduate student Ralitsa Alexandrova has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from March 14-20, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Alexandrova went a combined 3-1 on the week as the Bucs faced a pair of ranked foes, picking up a 5-2 win over No. 72 Yale.
 
After dropping her No. 3 doubles match in ETSU’s 4-2 loss at No. 36 FIU on Wednesday, the Sofia, Bulgaria, native cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kristina Miletic at No. 6 singles.
 
A day later against Yale, also at FIU, Alexandrova and Emilia Alfaro picked up a 6-1 win over Jamie Kim and Sophia Zaslow to help ETSU claim the doubles point. In singles action, Alexandrova dropped Rebecca Lynn 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match.
 
ETSU (10-5, 1-0 SoCon) returns to league play this week, visiting Wofford (10-5, 1-0) on Friday at 3 p.m. and Samford (8-4, 0-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
