SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The field and bracket for the 2023 Postseason WNIT, powered by Triple Crown Sports, has been announced. The Wofford women's basketball team, automatic qualifier out of the Southern Conference, will play its first-round game on the road at Florida on Thursday, March 16.
This is the second-ever WNIT selection for Wofford, and it comes in a consecutive season after the Terriers made the field last season, traveling to Middle Tennessee State in the first round. As the 2022-23 SoCon Regular-Season Champions, the Terriers earned the league's automatic berth.
Wofford and Florida will be meeting for a second-straight season in a WNIT-sponsored event. The Terriers and Gators faced off last season in the Preseason WNIT Classic in Raleigh, N.C., and now they will meet in the postseason version of the tournament this season.
The Terriers enter the event after delivering their best season in program history. With a 22-9 record overall, Wofford set a new Division I program record for wins in a season alongside their first-ever 20-win season at the D-I level. With a 10-4 SoCon clip, the Terriers earned the regular-season title outright, the first championship for any Wofford women's team sport ever.
Florida enters the tournament at 16-14 on the season and an at-large selection out of the SEC.
The Terriers and Gators will play their first-round game at 6:00 p.m. in Gainesville, Fla. at the Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
