SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Dimitri Badra has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from Feb. 21-27, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Badra went a combined 4-0 on the week as the Bucs won both of their matches.
 
In Friday’s 5-2 home win over Troy, Badra paired with Juan Lobisano for a 6-3 win over Vito Llinares and Noah Martens at No. 2 doubles, clinching the point. In singles play, the redshirt junior from Maracay, Venezuela, topped Mario Martinez 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1.
 
ETSU opened league play with a 4-3 win over Samford in Bristol, Tennessee, on Sunday, with Badra and Lobisano picking up a 7-5 win over Harrison Williams and Mohammed Ali Bellalouna at No. 2 doubles. Badra then picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bellalouna at No. 1 singles.
 
The weekly award is Badra’s 11th, extending his career record.
 
ETSU (2-8, 1-0 SoCon) hosts UNC Asheville on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and Tennessee Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up its homestand.
