SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Enjulina Gonzalez has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 14-20 after leading the Bears to a conference road win last week. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Gonzalez, who also won the honor on Jan. 17, scored a game-high 25 points for Mercer as the Bears defeated Samford, 70-59, on Saturday. The freshman guard from Miami, Florida, also pulled down three rebounds, dished out a pair of assists, swatted a career-best three shots and had three steals, which tied a career high. Gonzalez went 12-for-20 (.600) from the field and split a pair at the line against the Bulldogs.
 
Mercer (11-14, 7-5 SoCon) travels to Furman (10-17, 2-10) on Thursday, Feb. 23, and Wofford (18-8, 8-4) on Saturday, Feb. 25, to conclude its regular-season slate of games.
