SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina guard Tre Jackson has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Feb. 6-12 after averaging 37.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a pair of conference contests on the week. The award is selected by the league office.

Jackson opened his week with a career-high 47 points, a program record at the Division I level, in Western Carolina’s 95-91, double-overtime win at Wofford on Wednesday. The redshirt junior from Columbia, South Carolina, went 14-for-21 (.667) from the floor, matching the program record for made field goals, and was 8-for-15 from 3-point range and 11-for-11 from the free-throw line. Jackson, who had 43 of his points in regulation and added two steals and three rebounds on the day, scored the most points by a SoCon player and the second-most points by a Division I player this season. His 47 points were the most scored by a SoCon player since Furman’s Jordan Lyons scored 54 points against North Greenville on Nov. 15, 2018.

Jackson followed his career game with another impressive effort in Saturday’s 93-59 loss at league-leading Furman, scoring a game-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting (.556). He hit two of his five 3-point attempts (.400) and was 5-for-5 from the line in addition to grabbing four rebounds and recording an assist.

For the week, Jackson shot 61.5 percent from the floor (24-for-39), including a 10-for-20 effort from 3-point range (.500). He was perfect on 16 free-throw attempts.
