SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s indoor track and field runner Megan Marvin has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Jan. 25-31. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Marvin competed in both the 800-meter run and the mile run at Clemson’s Bob Pollock Invitational, finishing second in both races. The junior from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, turned in a personal-best time of 4:37.56 in the mile on Friday, with her time leading the SoCon by more than five seconds and ranking 28th on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.
 
The following day, Marvin broke her own program and personal records in the 800m, clocking 2:04.27. That time leads the SoCon by more than four seconds and ranks ninth on the NCAA performance list.
 
Marvin has a 3.95 GPA and is majoring in economics. The Student-Athlete of the Week award is the seventh of her career and her second this season, as she also claimed the honor on Nov. 2 during cross country season. She earned the award five times during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons in 2021-22.
 
Marvin will be among a group of six Paladins in action at the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Saturday.
