SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina guard Vonterius Woolbright has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Dec. 11-17 after logging his seventh double-double of the season last week. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Woolbright, who won also won the honor on Nov. 13 and Dec. 4, led the Catamounts to a 70-53 road win at USC Upstate on Dec. 16. The senior logged a near triple-double in the game, finishing with 15 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and eight assists, while shooting 6-for-13 (.465) from the field.
 
The Albany, Georgia, native leads the SoCon in scoring (21.5 ppg) and rebounding (11.8 rpg), ranking him 14th and fourth, respectively, in the nation. Woolbright is third in the conference in assists (5.2 apg).
 
Western Carolina (8-2) plays at Vanderbilt on Tuesday before hosting Brescia on Thursday.
