Furman's Morgan Included On Final Fall ANNIKA Award Watch List

Paladin senior is one of 20 finalist

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman’s Anna Morgan is included on the 2023-2024 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel final fall watch list, as announced by Golfweek and Golf Channel on Thursday.

A senior from Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan holds a 68.6 stroke average over 12 rounds of play this fall.  She has recorded three top-5 finishes in five events, including victories at the Lady Paladin Invitational and the Landfall Tradition.  Morgan’s victory at Landfall, the sixth of her career, established a new Paladin record for career wins, surpassing Paladins Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Dottie Pepper, and Jennifer Perri, who each notched five career wins.

Morgan was named the Southern Conference Female Athlete of the Year and SoCon Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season and earned All-SoCon honors for the third-straight year in 2022-23.  She led the league with a 72.43 stroke average over 35 rounds after winning individual medalist honors at the SoCon Championship and went on to tie for tenth at the NCAA Athens Regional.

Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer, with the winner being voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media.  Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.  Furman’s Natalie Srinivasan captured the ANNIKA Award in 2020, and Paladin Brad Faxon won the Haskins Award in 1983.
