SoCon announces Nexstar basketball broadcast schedule

10 regular-season league games set for regional telecast

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets and the Southern Conference announced Thursday that they will partner to broadcast 10 SoCon men’s basketball regular-season games throughout the league’s six-state footprint across a network of Nexstar stations.

"The Southern Conference’s collaboration with Nexstar enhances our broadcast exposure, allowing us to beam our basketball games to homes across much of the Southeast. Amplifying both the SoCon and our institutional brands within our geographic footprint helps our student-athletes and their schools tell their stories and is part of our century-long legacy of combining both athletic and educational excellence,” SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross said. “We appreciate Ingles Markets integral involvement in the broadcasts as our leading corporate partner and without whom the broadcasts would not be possible. Their support is pivotal in our ability to support these amazing student-athletes.”

The broadcast package will start with Elon visiting UNCG at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, serving as the only game without two SoCon squads in the contest in the Nexstar package.

The next three games on the schedule are Furman visiting Chattanooga on Saturday, Jan. 6, followed by Western Carolina going to ETSU on Wednesday, Jan. 10, and VMI at Samford on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Two weeks later, a run of six-straight weeks of Saturday games on Nexstar affiliates begins with Furman at Wofford on Jan. 27, in what will be the Paladins’ second Nexstar game. The next week on Feb. 3, VMI travels to Mercer.

On Feb. 10, Mercer appears for the second consecutive week as the Bears head to Western Carolina, followed by The Citadel welcoming military rival VMI on Feb. 17. Chattanooga then plays at The Citadel on Feb. 24, and on the final day of the regular season Furman welcomes Mercer on March 2.

Each game in the package will also air concurrently on ESPN+, and all 10 SoCon men’s basketball programs will be featured at some point during the season.

Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are: ECBD (Charleston), WBTW (Myrtle Beach), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), WMYT (Charlotte), WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) and WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.
