SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Mikeal Brown-Jones has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Nov. 20-26 after averaging 18.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, last week. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Brown-Jones logged 22 points, seven rebounds and two steals in UNCG’s 74-64 victory over Kansas City on Nov. 24. The senior went 6-for-11 (.545) from the field, including connecting on one of his two attempts from behind the arc. The next day, the North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, product finished with 18 points on 5-for-7 (.714) shooting from the field as the Spartans defeated Delaware 88-77. Jones went 7-for-9 (.778) from the charity stripe in addition to grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots against the Blue Hens.
 
In the title game on Nov. 26, Brown-Jones recorded 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in UNCG’s 58-57 win over UIC. Brown-Jones shot 7-for-11 (.636) in the final game of the tournament. Following UNCG’s win over UIC, Brown-Jones was named the MVP of the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship.
 
For the week, Brown-Jones shot 18-for-29 (.621) from the floor and committed just two turnovers in 85 minutes on the court.
 
UNCG (5-1) carries a four-game winning streak into Friday’s game against William Peace, with the Spartans playing their first game at home since Nov. 10.
