SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG guard Keyshaun Langley has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Nov. 13-19 after averaging 24.5 points and 3.5 steals per game against a pair of SEC opponents. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Langley had 26 points and three steals in UNCG’s 74-70 setback at Vanderbilt on Nov. 14. The graduate student went 9-for-20 (.450) from the field in 37 minutes played against the Commodores.
 
Three days later, the High Point, North Carolina, product finished with a game-high 23 points, five assists and four steals in the Spartans’ 78-72 win at 14th-ranked Arkansas. Langley shot 6-for-11 (.545) from the field, including 5-for-8 (.625) from behind the arc, and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. UNCG’s win over Arkansas marked the first time in school history that the Spartans defeated an SEC team and was the first time the program defeated a ranked opponent.
 
For the week, Langley shot 48.4 percent (15-for-31) from the floor and was 11-for-12 (.917) from the free-throw line. Langley also committed just one turnover during the week.
 
UNCG (2-1) competes in the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in Nassau, Bahamas this weekend. The Spartans will face Kansas City on Nov. 24 at 11 a.m., with games on Nov. 25 and 26 against opponents to be determined.
