SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Nikolai Rojel and Mercer midfielder Nick Wanzer have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Sept. 26 – Oct. 2. 

Rojel, who won the honor on Sept. 5, led Wofford offensively this week as the Terriers went 1-0-1 in a 4-2 win over Winthrop. The Copenhagen, Denmark product contributed a hat trick scoring the first as well as the game-winning goal. The sophomore’s three-goal match is the 12th hat trick in school history and places Rojel 12th in the nation in goals with seven. 

Wanzer led Mercer defensively with a goal and multiple tackles in the Bears’ 5-1 victory over VMI in their conference opener. The Frisco, Texas native scored the game-winning goal in the 25th minute of the game to contribute to the team’s offensive effort. The senior midfielder also currently ranks third in the SoCon in assists with three. 

Wofford (2-2-5, 0-0-1) travels to Presbyterian on Tuesday welcoming Mercer Saturday for their second conference match. Mercer (5-1-4, 1-0) hosts Georgia State on Wednesday.
