SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Jason Bowers and Chattanooga’s Lesley Green-Boyd have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross-country runners of the week, respectively, after all competition Oct. 11-17.
Bowers, who won the honor on Sept. 20 and Oct. 4, finished first this weekend at the Upstate Invitational. The sophomore posted a personal best and ETSU school record with an 8K time of 23:10.2, replacing the record he set on Sept. 30. The Parys, South Africa, product led his team to a fourth-place finish with 117 points in a field that included six other SoCon schools.
Green-Boyd led Chattanooga to a first-place finish at the UTC Home Meet with a 5K time of 16:39. The Dayton, Tennessee, product set a new personal record as well as a course record to take the individual title. The graduate student was previously named runner of the week on Sept. 20.
ETSU and Chattanooga return to action on Friday, Oct. 27, at The Southern Conference Championship hosted by UNCG.
