SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Nikolai Rojel and ETSU defender Yves Tcheuyap have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Oct. 10-16.
Rojel, who received the honor two other times this season on Sept. 5 and Oct. 3, scored the game-tying goal for the Terriers in their 1-1 tie at UNCG on Saturday. The sophomore forward scored with 75 seconds left in the game to help Wofford produce its best result in Greensboro since 2018. The Copenhagen, Denmark, product leads the SoCon in goals with nine, which is tied for 18th in the NCAA.
Tcheuyap led the Buccaneers to two shutouts last week against Gardener-Webb and VMI. The junior defender played all 90 minutes against the Runnin’ Bulldogs and 83 minutes against the Keydets. The Oakville, Canada, native reinforced a backline that allowed only one shot on goal by Gardner-Webb in the game. ETSU leads the SoCon in goals allowed with 10.
Wofford (4-3-6, 1-0-2 SoCon) hosts VMI on Saturday in a 1 p.m. matchup. ETSU (6-5-2, 2-0-1) welcomes Winthrop on Tuesday before traveling to Furman on Saturday in a matchup between the two teams tied for first place in the conference standings.
