SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Makenzie Cooper has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 4-10. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Cooper won the Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia, which wrapped play Sunday. The sophomore posted rounds of 68-68-67 for a tournament score of 203 (-7), setting a new 54-hole school record. The Litchfield, Arizona, product led the field in birdies (14) and had an average score of 2.83 on par-3 holes, which led the field. Cooper also shared the lead for scoring on par-4 holes with an average of 3.79.
 
Chattanooga finished third in the 15-team, 84-golfer field, with a 20-over-par 860 performance. The Mocs shot 285 in the first round, 287 in the second round and 288 in the final round. Chattanooga defeated eight teams ranked in the top 100 in the tournament.
 
The Mocs play their next tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate on Oct. 15-17.
