SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU men's golfer Mats Ege has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 4-10. The selection is made by the conference office.
Ege, who also won SoCon Golfer of the Week, took first at the 25
th and final Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate posting scores of 62-70-68 to finish with a score of 200 (-16), a new career-best 54-hole score, which gave him his third individual win as a Buccaneer. The Kristiansand, Norway product set a new course and tournament record for the event and set an ETSU school record with his first round score of 10-under-par 62. The senior guided the Bucs to a tournament win with a team score of 27-under-par 837, besting the runner-up by 12 strokes.
The fourth Buccaneer to win the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Ege finished with 18 birdies and 34 pars, leading the field in par-4 scoring (-6) and par-5 scoring (-11). He maintains a 3.408 GPA while majoring in Economics.
