SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced

Western Carolina’s Marcil and ETSU’s Limprevil honored

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina forward Naya Marcil and ETSU defender Taylor Limprevil have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Oct. 3-9.

Marcil, who won the award for the second straight week, started both games for Western Carolina as the Catamounts were victorious in two conference matches. The junior played 89 minutes in the team’s 2-0 win versus Chattanooga on Oct. 5, scoring one goal and assisting on another. In the contest with the Mocs, the native of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada, scored her goal in the 11th minute and picked up an assist in the 28th minute when she found Isabella Demarco for a score. Marcil had one assist in the team’s 2-1 win at Mercer on Oct. 8. With the Catamounts down one goal, Marcil found Emma Soucy for the game-tying goal in the 70th minute to tie the score at 1-1.

Limprevil started both games last week for ETSU as the Buccaneers went 2-0. The graduate student played all 90 minutes in the team’s 10th shutout of the season on Oct. 5, a 1-0 victory at The Citadel. Limprevil was a part of a back line that allowed just one shot on goal during the match. The Spring Hill, Tennessee, native had an assist in 66 minutes of game action as ETSU defeated Wofford, 4-1, on Oct. 8. Limprevil’s assist came on the first goal of the game in the 19th minute when teammate Aliya Cooper scored.
