ANNAPOLIS, Md.  – VMI Rifle opened its 2022-23 season against No. 6 Navy and No. 2 TCU in Annapolis on Saturday in strong fashion, as the mixed team placed third and women fourth.

The Keydets (mixed) posted a score of 2248 in smallbore and 2298 in the Air Rifle. The aggregate score of 4546 was just behind Navy's 4663.

Christopher Hicks picked up where he left off last season, finishing with the 10^th-highest aggregate score for an individual – 1153 – with a 577 in smallbore and 576 in Air Rifle. Ryan Harlow (578), Michael Annesi (571) and Kolton Dobson (567) placed 12^th, 15^th and 16^th in Air Rifle while Victoria Phillips and Maxine Gray-Barth led the way on the women's smallbore, totaling 4389 as a team. Katie Grochalski topped VMI Women's team with a score of 573 in Air Rifle.
