SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Dorota Zalewska has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 14-20. The selection, the second one of the 2022-23 campaign, is made by the league office.
 
Zalewska tied for 16th in a field of 78 participants with a 1-under-par 212 at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the par-71, 5,930-yard Cherokee Country Club. The senior from Sczcecin, Poland, averaged 70.67 strokes through three rounds, opening the tournament on Friday with a 2-under 69 before posting a 3-over 74 in the second round, her first over-par card of the season, to sit tied for 21st at 1-over-par 143. Zalewska fired a 2-under-par 69 on the final day to finish tied for 16th with UCF’s Pimpisa Sisuthamm, with her final-round score marking her fourth card in the 60s this season, giving her nine for her career, one off Emily McLennan's (2013-16) school record. Zalewska posted her fifth straight top-25 finish and is currently 8-under for the season and 8-under for her last 252 holes dating back to last season.
 
Chattanooga finished 11th in the 14-team field, completing the tournament with a 28-over 880 performance. The Mocs shot 292 in the first round, 302 in the second, and 286 in the final round, earning wins over Brigham Young (+33), conference opponent Mercer (+52) and Augusta (+59). Wake Forest won the tournament with an 831, followed by UCF at 834 and Virginia at 836.
 
This marks Zalewska’s first weekly honor of the season and the fourth of her career.
 
Chattanooga returns to action on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Mason Rudolph Championships hosted by Vanderbilt in Franklin, Tennessee.
