Wofford's Galanie named Academic All-American

Terrier third baseman earned spot on third team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College student-athlete Ryan Galanie has been named to the 2022 Academic All-America® Baseball Third Team, selected by CoSIDA, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Galanie, a junior from Mason, Ohio, started all 59 games this season, primarily at third base. He batted .329 with 72 hits and a team-best 66 runs scored. He also led the team with 17 home runs and with 59 RBIs. Among Southern Conference leaders, he is ranked in the top 10 in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, RBIs, triples, home runs, hit by pitch, stolen bases and total bases.
 
A computer science and Spanish major with a 3.80 grade point average, Galanie has been named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and SoCon Spring All-Academic Team. The Terriers won the Southern Conference regular-season title for the second straight season and set a school record for wins with 42.
 
Galanie is the fifth Wofford baseball player to be named Academic All-America and the first since the 2015 season (Matt Ramsay). Galanie is the only player from the Southern Conference and the state of South Carolina to be honored this season. Since 1990, he is the 21st Terrier to earn the honor, with the most recent in 2020 (William Stout, track and field).
