Wofford's Rob Galloway advances at Wimbledon

2015 alum won first-round doubles match

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Former Wofford College men’s tennis player Rob Galloway ’15 and his partner Max Schnur won in the first round of gentlemen’s doubles on Thursday at The Championships at Wimbledon. They earned a 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 victory to advance to the second round, which will be held either on Friday or Saturday.
 
Galloway and Schnur were alternates, who gained entry into the gentlemen’s doubles draw on Thursday morning. They defeated Tallon Griekspoor (Netherlands) and Oscar Otte (Germany). Up next for the pair will be the 13th-seeded Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) and Andres Molteni (Argentina), who advanced with a 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over wild cards Julian Cash and Henry Patton from the United Kingdom.
 
Galloway, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, currently has a doubles ranking of 95th in the world and has won twelve career ATP Challenger doubles titles. A member of the Wofford College Athletics Hall of Fame, he has also played in the 2018 and 2021 U.S. Opens.
