TUCSON, Ariz. – Two weeks after being named the Southern Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year, Hogan Windish and Alex Hoppe added another award by being named to the Collegiate Baseball’s All-American team.

Windish, who leads the team with a .380 batting average, was named to the second team as a second baseman. He has hit 16 home runs this season which is second for the most in a single season. So far this season, he has 54 runs, 79 hits, and 19 doubles. He’s been hit by a pitch 10 times which makes him tied for first in career hit by pitches with 40. Prior to the start of the season, the Jefferson, N.C, native.was named to the 2022 Preseason All-Conference Team and the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List.

Hoppe, who has the lowest ERA on the team with 2.91, earned a spot on the third team as a pitcher. He has struck out 82 batters this season and only walked 29. Only 47 batters have hit off of him, giving his opponents a .192 batting average. As a reliever, he has an 8-2 record on the season. The eight wins are the second-most on the team. The Clinton, Iowa native has three saves and helped pitch a shutout earlier in the year.

Windish, Hoppe, and the rest of the Spartans continue their season tonight at 7 p.m. as they face No. 16 Georgia Southern in the Statesboro Regional.
