SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Dimitri Badra has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played March 29 to April 4, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Badra went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles action as the 68
th-ranked Bucs (14-5, 4-0 SoCon) earned a pair of league wins.
The redshirt sophomore from Maracay, Venezuela, teamed with Francisco Lamas for a 6-3 win over Cooper Wyett and Hugh Knapp at No. 2 doubles in ETSU’s 6-1 win over UNCG on Friday before topping Nico Grewe 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
In a 5-2 win over Chattanooga two days later, Badra and Lamas dropped a 7-6 (8-6) decision to the Mocs’ Kerim Hyatt and Kaisei Kuroki at No. 2 doubles, but Badra bounced back with a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win over Tomas Rodriguez at No. 1 singles.
Badra’s honor is his fourth of the season and the league-record ninth of his career.
