SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Richmond’s Ryan Lanchbury and Zach Vigue have been named the Southern Conference men’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all games April 19-25 after leading the Spiders to a 16-5 win over rival High Point on Saturday. The awards are selected by the league office.
 
Lanchbury, who was named one of 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award last week, scored a game-high seven points as the Spiders downed the Panthers in a rematch of last season’s SoCon tournament title game. The graduate attackman from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, netted five goals and assisted on two others in extending his point-scoring streak to 55 games and his goal-scoring streak to 11 consecutive contests. After High Point tied the match at 4 early in the second quarter, Lanchbury’s second goal of the afternoon put Richmond on top to stay. He would add one more goal in the second quarter and two in the third to round out his goals on the day, while he assisted on a pair of second-half strikes.
 
Vigue allowed just five goals and made a career-high 19 saves in 57:18 of play to pace the defensive effort against High Point, which entered the contest averaging 14.5 goals a game. The redshirt freshman from Apex, North Carolina, logged a career-best .792 save percentage on the afternoon, facing 39 shots. He helped hold the Panthers to their lowest scoring output since 2018 and their fewest goals in a SoCon game since 2017.
 
Richmond (8-4, 3-1 SoCon), which is ranked No. 17 in the USILA/Dynamic Men’s Coaches Division I Poll and Inside Lacrosse poll and No. 18 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll, wraps up its regular season when it hosts VMI (4-9, 2-2) on Saturday at noon. The SoCon Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be May 5 and 7 at Vert Stadium in High Point, North Carolina.
