SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Two Southern Conference men’s lacrosse student-athletes are among the 25 nominees nationally for the Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday. High Point’s Asher Nolting and Richmond’s Ryan Lanchbury both made the list of nominees for the award, which honors the top player in Division I lacrosse.
 
The five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 2.

Nolting, a fifth-year attackman from Greenwood Village, Colorado, leads the SoCon in total points (75), points per game (6.25), total assists (47) and assists per game (3.92).

Nolting was the SoCon Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and has earned All-America honors every year of his career. He is the league’s career leader in points (338), points per game (5.28), assists (198) and assists per game (3.09). He is ninth in NCAA Division I history in total points.

Lanchbury is also one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award this season in men's lacrosse. The graduate student from Burlington, Ontario, ranks first all-time in Richmond scoring history with 270 points (150 goals, 120 assists), with both marks at the top of the charts all-time for the Spiders. Lanchbury leads the team this season with 58 points, scoring 28 goals and handing out 30 assists.

He was selected second overall in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) 2021 entry draft by the Georgia Swarm. He was the 2021 Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year and has been named an All-American twice in his career.

Nolting and Lanchbury will square off this Saturday when High Point hosts 18th-ranked Richmond at noon.

The 2022 Tewaaraton Watch Lists Presented by AXIA Time were first unveiled Feb. 10, with additions announced March 10 and April 1. The SoCon had five on the watch list, with Nolting and Lanchbury joined by Jacksonville’s Max Waldbaum and Jacob Greiner and High Point’s Brayden Mayea.
