SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga women’s golfer Dorota Zalewska has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 13-19. The selection, Dorota’s second of the season, is made by the conference office.
 
Zalewska clinched the individual title at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at the Barefoot Landing Resort’s par-72, 6,004-yard Dye Course in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday, April, 19, shooting a 1-under-par 215 to win by one stroke over Wofford’s Becca Earl and by five strokes over ETSU’s Hollie Muse. The junior fired a 1-under 71 in Sunday’s first round and shot a 1-over 73 in the second round to move into a tie for second before finishing with another 71 in the final round to claim her third career individual title and second straight after concluding the regular season with a win at the Brickyard Collegiate. Her first and final round scores of 71 give her 14 par or better cards this season, tying 2014 SoCon Champion Emily McLennan’s 2015-16 school record. She is the second Moc to win back-to-back-events since Emma de Groot won the 2008 Samford Women’s Intercollegiate & Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational and is the third Moc with three or more wins over a career, joining 2011 SoCon Champion de Groot ’11 (6) & McLennan ’16 (3). Zalewska is also the third women’s golfer to win multiple events in a year, joining de Groot (2, 2007-08; 2, 2008-09) & McLennan (2, 2015-16), but is the first to do it with the SoCon tournament being one of the events. The Szczecin, Poland, native is the seventh Moc to win SoCon medalist honors, with her finish marking her fifth top-five and seventh top-10 performance this season.
 
Zalewska maintains a 3.35 grade point average and is majoring in exercise science.
 
Both Zalewska and SoCon team champion Furman clinched automatic berths to the NCAA regionals. The NCAA field will be announced live on Wednesday, April 27, at 4 p.m. (ET), on the Golf Channel.
