SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Dimitri Badra has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played March 1-7, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Badra went 4-0 last week, including a pair of straight-sets singles wins, as the Bucs topped Wofford and UNC Asheville. In the 7-0 win over the Terriers on Friday, Badra topped Ashe Ray at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. He also teamed with Juan Jose Vargas to earn a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
 
In a 6-1 win at UNC Asheville on Saturday, the redshirt sophomore from Maracay, Venezuela, picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jon Brann Reid at No. 1 singles and again paired with Vargas for a win at No. 2 doubles, this time by a 7-6 (7-5) count.
 
The award is Badra’s second straight and third of the season overall.
 
ETSU, ranked No. 74 nationally, (8-4, 2-0 SoCon) hosts Lipscomb on Friday at 2 p.m. and Gardner-Webb on Sunday at 1 p.m.
