McCarthy had a big week at the plate in his four starts for the Bulldogs, batting .467 and scoring five total runs with one double, one triple, two home runs and five RBIs in The Citadel’s games against South Carolina and George Mason. He started the week by going 2-for-3 with one home run, one RBI and a pair of runs scored in the Bulldogs’ 4-3 victory over the Gamecocks on Tuesday, March 22, before going 2-for-4 with one double, one RBI, and one run scored in The Citadel’s 6-3 series-opening victory over the Patriots on Friday, March 25. In the Bulldogs’ 5-4 victory over George Mason on Saturday, the graduate outfielder went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to left center, marking his third straight two-hit game and his second home run of the week. McCarthy closed out the weekend by going 1-for-4 with an RBI triple in The Citadel’s 6-4 series-finale loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
