ETSU’s Hasegawa named Women’s Golfer of the Week

Tied for second at 2022 Clover Cup; Shot career-low 67 in first round

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Sera Hasegawa has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 9-15. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Hasegawa, a freshman from Gifu, Japan, tied for second in a field of 89 participants, including six top-100 players, with an 8-under-par 208 at the 2022 Clover Cup hosted by Notre Dame in Mesa, Arizona, at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club.  

Hasegawa averaged 69.3 strokes through three rounds at the Clover Cup, opening the tournament with a career-low 5-under 67 and seven birdies during Friday's first round. She finished round two on Saturday at 7-under-par 137, carding her first eagle of the spring season on No. 18. Hasegawa fired a 1-under-par 71 on the final day to finish tied for second behind the third-ranked golfer in the nation and ahead of five top-100 players. ETSU placed 10th among 17 teams.  

This marks Hasegawa’s first weekly honor of the season and the first of her career. 

ETSU returns to action on Monday, March 21, at the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate in Kennesaw, Georgia.
