CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team earned a No. 13 seed in the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and will face No. 4 Illinois of the Big Ten in the first round on Friday inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburg, Pennsylvani. Tip-off is set for 6:50 p.m. ET on TNT.
 
Chattanooga finished the regular season 27-7 overall and claimed the Southern Conference regular-season and tournament titles. Illinois, the 16th-ranked team in the latest AP Top 25, finished the year 22-9 and fell to Indiana 65-63 in the Big Ten quarterfinals.
 
The Mocs are making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2016 and 12th overall as a program. In its 1997 run to the Sweet 16, Chattanooga also drew Illinois, which resulted in a 75-63 win in the Round of 32.
