SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga softball player Brooke Parrott has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Feb. 16-22. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Parrott started two games for the Mocs last week, allowing only two runs on five hits and earning nine strikeouts in Chattanooga’s wins over Radford, SIUE, and Purdue-Fort Wayne on Saturday and Sunday. After going the distance and allowing two runs on five hits in a 3-2 win over SIUE on Saturday, the junior set down all 21 batters she faced on 78 pitches to lead Chattanooga to a 4-0 win over Radford and it first perfect game since 2002. On Sunday, Parrott entered the circle in relief in both contests, earning two saves and two strikeouts and allowing only two walks and five hits. In her four total appearances, Parrott combined to hold a 0.74 earned run average in 19 innings of work. The Harrison, Tennessee, native’s perfect game was Chattanooga’s first in two decades and the first no-hitter for a Moc since 2010.
 
Parrott was also named the SoCon Pitcher of the week on Monday, collecting her first weekly award this season.
 
Parrott maintains a 3.66 grade point average and is majoring in exercise science.
 
Chattanooga (5-5) returns to action this weekend, hosting the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from Friday-Sunday.
