SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Amoria Neal-Tysor has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for games played Feb. 15-21 after averaging 23.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of conference victories. The award, Neal-Tysor’s second of the season, is selected by the league office.

Neal-Tysor scored 31 points in the Bears’ win over Wofford on Thursday, Feb. 17, adding three assists, seven rebounds, one steal and one block in the 74-54 victory over the Terriers. Two days later, the senior guard netted 16 points and added three assists and four rebounds in Mercer’s 71-64 win over Furman, helping the Bears clinch at least a share of the 2021-22 regular season title. The Sanford, North Carolina, native has now scored 20-plus points in seven league games and has scored in double-digit figures in 12 of 13 league games this season.

For the week, Neal-Tysor shot 42.9 percent from the floor (21-of-49) and 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from behind the arc in 67 minutes of action. In conference play, she ranks second in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game, and ranks second in 3-point field-goal percentage, shooting 42.0 percent from behind the arc. She also ranks third in the conference in assists, registering 3.8 assists per game.

The Bears (19-6, 12-1 SoCon) return to action on Saturday, Feb. 26, closing out the regular season with a 3 p.m. ET conference game against Samford (12-15, 7-6 SoCon) in Birmingham, Alabama.
