SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG infielder Hogan Windish and VMI right-hander Tyler Bradt have been named the Southern Conference player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for all games from Feb. 18-20. The selections, which are the first of the 2022 campaign, are made by the league office.
 
Windish played in three games last week, against South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. The junior from Jefferson, North Carolina, hit .571 with two doubles, seven RBIs, and one home run. In the Spartans’ opening-day loss against the Gamecocks on Friday, Windish went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, a double and a home run before going 3-for-4 with a two-run double on Saturday to help UNCG earn a 5-4 win over South Carolina. Windish ended the weekend going 2-for-5 with one RBI in UNCG’s narrow 8-7 loss to the Gamecocks in 10 innings on Sunday.
 
UNCG (1-2) will face its first ACC opponent of the 2022 season when the squad travels to Winston Salem, North Carolina, on Tuesday, Feb. 22, for a 4 p.m. game against Wake Forest before hosting a three-game series in Greensboro, North Carolina, this weekend against App State.
 
Bradt threw six innings in VMI’s upset of No. 23 Duke on Friday, striking out eight Blue Devils and allowing just one earned run, six hits and two walks in the 10-5 win. The redshirt sophomore from Henrico, Virginia, picked up the win for the Keydets and concluded the day with a 1.50 ERA.  
 
VMI (1-2) travels to Charlottesville, Virginia, for a 3 p.m. game against Virginia on Tuesday, Feb. 22, before hosting a three-game series in Lexington, Virginia, this weekend against Lafayette.
