SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Senior forward Alexis Tomlin of the Wofford College women’s basketball team has been named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
“I am really excited and proud of Lexx,” said head coach Jimmy Garrity. “To be named CoSIDA Academic All-District is quite an honor. She is a tireless worker and is so deserving of this recognition.”
Tomlin, a senior from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has started all 23 games for the Terriers so far this season. She’s currently shooting 42.5 percent from the field and posting 7.5 PPG. With 168 total rebounds, her 7.3 RPG tops the team and is fifth in the Southern Conference. Defensively, Tomlin touts 19 blocks and 11 steals. Her 0.8 blocks per game is fifth in the SoCon. The senior boasts four double-doubles on the season, the only Terrier with multiple.
No stranger to accolades, this is Tomlin’s fourth of the campaign thus far. She was named to the Preseason WNIT Classic All-Tournament Team for the NC State pod following her performance in Wofford’s first-ever appearance in the Preseason WNIT Classic at the beginning of the season. She has also twice been named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week (Dec. 1 and Jan. 12) and is the first in program history to earn that distinction.
A biology and mathematics double major with a 4.00 grade point average, Tomlin is the third Wofford women’s basketball player to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, joining teammate Lilly Hatton (2021) and Jenny Nett (1999 and 2001). This is the first time the Terriers have selections in back-to-back seasons.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wofford is in the fourth district, which includes schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and South Carolina. Nominees must have at least a 3.30 GPA. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in mid-March.
