Furman's Marvin named Student-Athlete of the Week

Set a school record in the 800m at Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational  

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s indoor track and field athlete Megan Marvin has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Feb. 9-15. The selection, Marvin’s second of the season, is made by the conference office.
 
Marvin set a school record in the 800-meter race on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia, posting a time of 2:07.03 to place fourth and break the previous record of 2:07.14 set by  Krissy Gear in 2018. On Saturday, she set a new PR in the mile run, crossing the finish line with a personal-best time of 4:39.40 to finish third, taking three and a half seconds off her previous personal best. Marvin currently leads the SoCon in both the 800-meter and mile this season.
 
Marvin was also named the SoCon Women’s Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, collecting her third weekly award this season.
 
The Chapel Hill, North Carolina, sophomore maintains a 4.00 grade point average and is currently undecided on her major.
 
The Paladins return to action on Feb. 27-26 to compete at the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lexington, Virginia.
