Wofford’s Earl named Women’s Golfer of the Week

Won individual medalist honors at Lady Bison Classic; Tied most career wins, top-five finishes in program history

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Becca Earl has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all spring competition from Feb. 7-15. The selection is made by the conference office.

Earl, a senior from Essex, England, earned her third career individual medalist honor after finishing with a 4-over-par 220 at the Lady Bison Classic, hosted by Lipscomb at the Nicklaus Golf Course in Panama City Beach, Florida. She averaged 73.33 strokes through three rounds on the par-72 course. Earl is now tied for the most career wins and top-five finishes in program history.

Earl led the field in birdies (9) and par-4 scoring (E) for the tournament, recording a round-low 73 to lead the pack in Monday's first round. She posted a 76 after a prolonged second-round conclusion on Tuesday morning, placing her in second. Earl then stayed the course, finishing even with two birdies at the turn before carding back-to-back birdies on holes No. 13 and No. 14. She secured the win with a final round score of 1-under-par 71.

This marks Earl’s first weekly honor of the season and second of her career.

The Terriers return to action on Monday, Feb. 21, at the Islanders Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Also nominated: Anna Morgan (Furman) and Elizabeth Lohbauer (Western Carolina).
