SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Yusuf Khamis has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 8-14, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Khamis won both his singles and doubles match as ETSU went to Bloomington, Indiana, and downed the Indiana Hoosiers 6-1 on Friday. The redshirt senior from Cairo, Egypt, claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Carson Haskins at No. 1 singles and teamed with Thiago Pernas for a 6-4 win over IU’s Jagger Saylor and Patrick Fletchall at No. 3 doubles.
 
ETSU, which has won two straight to improve to 2-3 on the season, is at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Friday and Saturday.
 
Also nominated: Elijah Poritzky (Furman), Hugh Knapp (UNCG), Jim Hendrikx (Samford) and Callum Rendle (Wofford).
