SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Rocky Jordan has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Dec. 7-13. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Jordan, who is ranked No. 16 at 174 pounds, won his only match last week in the Mocs’ dual meet with second-ranked Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 10, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The junior from St. Paris, Ohio, defeated 14th-ranked Nelson Brands, 3-1, to grab the victory.
 
Jordan trailed 1-0 going into the third period but got a takedown with 48 seconds remaining in the bout to give himself the lead and secure a win. Saturday’s matchup between Jordan and Brands was the third time the two have faced each other in their collegiate careers, with the latest matchup being Jordan’s first victory in the trilogy.
 
The Mocs fell to the Hawkeyes 27-12. Chattanooga won four of the 10 matches during the meet.
 
Chattanooga (2-6) travels to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, to take on Clarion and SIUE on Dec. 16.
