SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Sussy Ngulefac has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 6-12 after averaging 17.5 points, 5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game last week. The award is selected by the league office.
Ngulefac started both games for Samford last week as the Bulldogs fell to Alabama State, 66-61, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Nebraska, 71-46, on Saturday, Dec. 10. Against Alabama State, Ngulefac tied her career high in points with 21 and blocked a career-high five shots, along with pulling down six rebounds. Ngulefac’s five blocks at Alabama State are the most by any player in the SoCon this season.
The native of Lilburn, Georgia, scored 14 points, grabbed four rebounds, blocked two shots and had a steal at Nebraska. Ngulefac shot a combined 15-for-21 (.714) during the two games as she put together her best two-game stretch in her Bulldog career.
Samford (4-8) concludes its three-game road trip at Auburn on Sunday, Dec. 18.
