BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford senior defender
Kylie Gazza was named first team All-Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches Association, and senior forward
Taylor Yount was named third team when the organization announced its All-Region teams Tuesday.
Gazza, who was also named first team All-SoCon last month, led a stellar defense that allowed just 14 goals in 22 games this season. She also contributed on the offensive end, tying for third on the team with four goals, to go along with two assists. Her 10 points tied for fourth on the squad.
Yount was named first team All-SoCon as well at the conclusion of the regular season. She also tallied four goals and two assists for a total of 10 points. She was particularly productive late in the season, tallying three goals in the last four regular season contests.
As a team, Samford continued its consistent stellar play this season, earning a share of a ninth-straight SoCon regular season title. The team also won the SoCon Tournament, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
