SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga defensive back Reuben Lowery III has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 2-8. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Lowery, the reigning SoCon Defensive Player of the Week, had nine tackles (eight solo) in the Mocs’ 31-21 win at The Citadel on Saturday. The third-year sophomore from Powder Springs, Georgia, had a fumble recovery in the first quarter and added his first career sack on a fourth down late in the fourth quarter, forcing the Bulldogs to turn the ball over on downs with just over a minute to play. Lowery found out less than 24 hours before the game that he would be moving from slot to safety due to a flu outbreak in the secondary.
 
A mechanical engineering major, Lowery boasts a 3.8333 GPA.
